Rebelo, Passoni named WWPA Players of the Week after leading teams to top of standings

McKendree's Joey Rebelo and Cal State East Bay's Daniela Passoni have been named WWPA Players of the Week for the week of Mar. 18-24, 2024.

WWPA Offensive Player of the Week
The Western Water Polo Association's leading goal scorer, McKendree junior Joey Rebelo, helped the Bearcats grab a stranglehold of the East Region with three wins in their home pool at the WWPA Bearcat Clash. Rebelo scored 10 goals and added four assists, drawing four exclusions in the process. The lefty came through in the clutch for McKendree in its one-goal win in the Clash finale, scoring five and dishing out two assists against Mercyhurst.

WWPA Defensive Player of the Week
2023 WWPA Player of the Year Daniela Passoni had a weekend to remember for Cal State East Bay. The senior racked up two 20-plus save performances in wins over Biola and Santa Clara. Her 21 saves helped the Pioneers grab first place in the West Region in a one-goal win over Biola. 24 hours later against SCU, the South African stopped 20 shots and allowed just three goals in 24 minutes of work. She had a .719 save percentage for the week.
