Biola sweeps WWPA weekly honors for second time

Biola is riding a four-game winning streak heading into the weekend, thanks in large part to Nick Murray and Caleb Hernandez's efforts.

The duo has been named the WWPA Players of the Week for the week of October 16-22, 2023.

WWPA Offensive Player of the Week

Nick Murray's contributions on the offensive end helped Biola, sitting in first place in the West Region, secure its program-best 16th win of the season with a victory over visiting conference foe Gannon. The Chino Hills, Calif. Product scored three times in the game, capping off a 4-0 run in the third quarter that provided the difference in the contest. The hat trick against Gannon was his second in a row after a three goal, one assist performance in a conference win over Fresno Pacific on Oct. 13.

WWPA Defensive Player of the Week

Caleb Hernandez contributed on both ends of the tank in Biola's victory over Gannon in La Mirada. The sophomore stuffed the stat sheet, picking up three field blocks and two steals to thwart the Golden Knights' offense. On the other end, he nabbed two goals and two assists, firing off the tying goal after the halftime break that started the 4-0 spurt that led to the Eagles' commanding lead in the third quarter. The Morgan Hill, Calif. product ranks fourth in the WWPA in assists with 36.
