Nov. 7 | Jason Cox (Pomona-Pitzer, Senior)

Pomona-Pitzer senior Jason Cox helped the Sagehens finish the regular season unbeaten against fellow SCIAC teams to earn KAP7 WWPA Player of the Week honors for Nov. 7. He finished the week with 10 goals in three games to take over the team lead with 40 on the season. He had four goals, including the game-winner to break a 9-9 tie with 53 seconds left, as Pomona-Pitzer picked up a big road win over Chapman. After scoring four more goals in a loss to Air Force on Friday, he added two more, including the tying goal at the end of the third quarter, as the Sagehens defeated Claremont. Pomona-Pitzer will be the top seed in the SCIAC Tournament at Whittier this weekend, as it looks to defend its title.


Oct. 31 | Josh Stiling (UC San Diego, Junior)

Leading the Tritons to the big conference wins on the week was sophomore goalie Cameron Ravanbach, who had 34 saves and three steals to earn KAP7 WWPA Player of the Week honors for Oct. 24. Ravanbach grabbed eight saves and a steal in the 10-9 home victory over 13th-ranked Air Force on Oct. 18. Ravanbach was at his best against ninth-ranked LMU, as he took down 19 saves on Oct. 20, accounting for a new single game career high. The total saves includes four blocked six-on-five power plays and one five-meter penalty shot on the road. The sophomore tallied up another seven saves against the well balanced second-ranked Bruins of UCLA on Sunday.


Oct. 24 | Cameron Ravanback (UC San Diego, Soph.)

Oct. 17 | Brad Rajchel (Air Force, Senior)

Air Force senior captain Brad Rajchel helped lead the Falcons to that 15-11 victory over conference foe UC Davis on Saturday, scoring a team-high four goals against the Aggies to earn this week’s KAP7 WWPA Player of the Week honor for Oct. 17. Rajchel tallied all four scores in the first half, including three in the second period, to help the Falcons pull away, as Air Force improved to 2-0 at home and 7-2 in the WWPA.


Oct. 10 | RYAN HIGGINS (Pomona-Pitzer, Junior)

Pomona-Pitzer’s Ryan Higgins (Jr., Att., Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) had 12 goals to lead the Sagehens to a 4-1 week, earning KAP7 WWPA Player of the Week honors for Oct. 10. Included in his week was a five-goal effort (a season high for any Sagehen this fall) in a 12-7 win over La Verne in its conference opener. Higgins also had the go-ahead goal in the closing minutes of a 10-8 win over No. 19 Cal Baptist, breaking a 7-7 tie midway through the fourth quarter and giving the Sagehens the lead for good. 


Oct. 3 | JOHN MIKUZIS (LMU, Junior)

Week five of the season featured a double-dip match-up at the top of the standings, with LMU and UC San Diego facing off twice in four days. The 11th-ranked Tritons won the first meeting in La Jolla, 10-8, while 10th-ranked LMU rebounded for a 13-11 win at the SoCal Tournament on Sunday. The Lions went on to defeat No. 9 Long Beach State, 13-10, in the ninth place game, to finish the weekend at 3-1. Junior John Mikuis led the Lions to its improved finish at the SoCals to earn the KAP7 WWPA Player of the Week honors for Oct. 3. He came up big in the Lions’ three straight wins to take ninth at the SoCals, scoring nine of his 11 goals in that stretch. He would finish the week as a stat-stuffer, scoring 11 goals with four assists, 14 kickouts drawn, four steals and four field blocks. The Lions earned a pair of WWPA wins to improve to 5-1 against conference foes and 7-6 overall.


Sept. 26 | ARTURO VILLALPANDO (La Verne) & CHRIS RICHARDSON (UC Davis, Soph.)

Leading La Verne to its big win was senior Arturo Villalpando. His breakout weekend earned him KAP7 Co-WWPA Men’s Player of the Week for Sept. 26. Villapando scored eight goals on the week, netting four in the win over the Broncos, adding three assists in the Leopards first ranked win. He finished with eight goals in the tournament at UC Davis. Against the 12th-ranked Aggies, he had three goals and three assists.


UC Davis had a big weekend, going 5-0 at their own pool, including a 4-0 mark against WWPA foes. Leading the way was sophomore utility Chris Richardson, who has also been named the KAP7 Co-WWPA Men’s Player of the Week for Sept. 26. He Scored a total of 20 goals in five UC Davis wins at its own Aggie Shootout tournament. The former WWPA All-Freshman honoree opened the weekend with four goals in Friday’s 12-11 win over Cal Baptist, netted a career-high six against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Saturday’s opener, then added another hat trick with four goals vs. La Verne in Saturday’s nightcap. Richardson scored two against Chapman and four against Redlands in Sunday’s action, including two 6-on-5 goals in the fourth-quarter to keep the Aggies’ ahead of the Bulldogs.


Sept. 19 | MIKE FISH (Air Force, Senior)

Senior Mike Fish registered 63 saves in four games to help lead Air Force to a 13th-place finish at the NorCal Invitational last weekend, the best showing in six seasons for the Falcons. Fish helped the Falcons jumpe three spots in the national poll, earning him KAP 7 WWPA Player of the Week honors for Sept. 19. Against third-ranked Cal, Fish registered 14 saves in three plus quarters of action, while adding a season-high 20 saves in the double-overtime heartbreaker to No. 11 UC San Diego. He added 17 and 12 saves, respectively, in the wins over No. 18 Concordia and No. 14 Santa Clara.


Sept. 12 | JOSH STEDMAN (Air Force, Junior) & TUCKER CARLSON (SCU, Junior)

Leading the way in the season-openers last week are the KAP7 WWPA Co-Players of the Week for Sept. 12 - juniors Josh Stedman of Air Force and Tucker Carlson of Santa Clara.


Santa Clara opened play over the weekend at the Inland Empire Classic, going 3-1 with their only setback to No. 5 UC Santa Barbara. Carlson scored 13 goals to lead the 14th-ranked Broncos attack. In his first game of the season, Carlson had four goals in the win over Chapman, adding three more in each game against UCSB, Whittier and Redlands. All three wins for the Broncos came in WWPA action.


Stedman helped lead 16th-ranked Air Force to a 3-1 record and a 3-0 WWPA mark at the Inland Empire Classic to open the 2012 season. Stedman was the Falcons’ leading goal scorer on the weekend with 12 goals, including a team-best six scores in Air Force’s 15-8 victory over Chapman. Stedman also tallied an assist and a team-leading five steals in Air Force’s first four games of the year.


Sept. 5 | JALEN LUBBERS (Occidental, Soph.)

Occidental got off to a 2-0 start to start the season with a pair of wins at the CalTech Kickoff. Sophomore center Jalen Lubbers led the Tigers to earn the first Kap7 WWPA Player of the Week honor. Lubbers, who is from Jennison High School in Michigan, led the Tiger attack with a combined seven goals in the two wins.  Lubbers scored twice and drew two exclusions in Oxy’s 15-10 win over Caltech.  He added a career high five goals, a steal, and another drawn exclusion in the 23-2 win over Chaffey College.
