CHAMPIONSHIP - #11 UC San Diego 8, #12 UC Davis 7
UC Davis erased a four-goal second half deficit to tie the 2011 WWPA Men’s Championship title game at 7-7 on a goal from Chris Richardson with 3:37 to play. But UC San Diego’s Josh Stiling scored his third goal of the day on the next possession with 3:07 to play to lift the Tritons to an 8-7 win and the 2011 WWPA Title. The Tritons earn the WWPA’s automatic bid to the 2011 National Collegiate Men’s Water Polo Championship hosted by Cal, Dec. 2-3.
GAME 19 - 3RD PLACE - #10 LMU 10, #14 Santa Clara 7
LMU outscored Santa Clara 7-2 in the second half to claim a 10-7 win in the third place game of the 2011 WWPA Championships on Sunday. Edgaras Asajavicius, five goals, and Joe Ferretti, four goals, scored nine of the Lions’ 10 on the day. LMU trailed 5-3 at the break after a 5-meter penalty shot with 16 seconds left in the second quarter gave SCU the two-goal lead.
GAME 18 - 5TH PLACE - #20 Air Force 8, Claremont 4
Air Force led by as many as 6-1 as they earned an 8-4 win over Claremont to finish fifth in the 2011 WWPA Men’s Championships on Sunday. Josh Stedman had three goals to lead the Falcons, while Danny Harold had another big day in net with 12 saves.
GAME 17 - 7TH PLACE - Pomona-Pitzer 11, Redlands 8
Down by a goal at the break, Pomona-Pitzer scored six unanswered in the second half to earn an 11-8 win over Redlands and a seventh place finish in the 2011 WWPA Men’s Championship. Eight different players scored for the Sagehens including six different players in the second half.
