ROHNERT PARK, Calif. -- After leading No. 13 UC San Diego to four victories on the road this past weekend, Sarah Lizotte has been named the KAP7 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week for the week of Mar. 31-Apr. 6. Lizotte, who hails from Riverside, Calif., scored 13 goals and added eight assists in helping the Tritons improve to 22-10 overall and a perfect 3-0 in WWPA matches this season.
The senior caged a weekend-best four goals twice on Sunday in Hayward, Calif., lifting UCSD to a 10-3 win over Cal State East Bay and a 13-11 victory over the University of the Pacific. Against the UOP Tigers, she added four assists. On Saturday in Rohnert Park, Lizotte scored a pair of goals in a 15-6 win over Sonoma State and followed that effort with three goals and three assists in another 15-6 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay. For the season, she has tallied 69 goals, 46 assists and 24 steals.
Lizotte, the reigning WWPA Player of the Year, and the 13th-ranked Tritons have just two regular season matches remaining on their schedule before the WWPA Championships in La Jolla, Calif., on Apr. 25-27. UCSD will host WWPA-foe Cal State San Bernardino (3-19, 0-5 WWPA) on Friday at 6:00 pm before wrapping up the regular season a week later hosting San Diego State, also at 6:00 pm.
