WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Nov. 11

RYAN FLOERSCH

Redlands

Ryan Floersch led Redlands to a pair of WWPA wins on the week, defeating Occidental (19-11) and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (9-6). He has been named WWPA Player of the Wek for Nov. 11. In two games, he had eight goals, nine ejections drawn and three steals. Against OXY, Floersch had five goals, an assist, an steal, and four ejections drawn. Versus CMS, he tallied three goals, one assist, two steals, and five ejections drawn. On the season, Ryan has drawn a remarkable 97 ejections, an average of more than 3 per game. His current total surpasses our previous team record by 30. In addition, he has contributed 45 goals, 30 assists, and 28 steals.


WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Nov. 4

RILESH DESAI

Whittier

Rilesh Desai has been named the WWPA Men’s Player of the Week for Nov. 4 after the Poets went 3-0 on the week, including a 10-9 win at Pomona-Pitzer. Desai notched four goals on five attempts, had four assists, and drew five ejections.  This marked the first win over Pomona-Pitzer since 2005.  In the second game of the day Desai quietly had a goal, a drawn ejection, and a steal in only 2 quarters of play over Mt. San Antonio Junior College.  Desai was given the day off for the Whittier College vs. Cal Tech game that was played on Wednesday October 28th.


WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Oct. 28

DAVID OSTROM

Air Force

David Ostrom of Air Force has been named the WWPA Player of the Week for Oct. 28 after he tallied 49 saves over the weekend to lead Air Force in a 2-2 record at The Rodeo, hosted by Santa Clara. He was stellar in a pair of overtime victories on Saturday, registering 12 saves and an assist in an 8-7 win over No. 13 UC Davis, while recording 20 stops, two steals and an assist in the Falcons’ 9-8 win against Brown. Ostrom added eight saves and an assist against No. 19 St. Francis and nine saves and a steal against No. 16 Santa Clara. With his performance on the weekend, Ostrom moved into third place on the Falcons’ career saves list with 623.



WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Oct. 21

STEVE NEVILLE

Chapman

Steve Neville has been named the WWPA Men’s Player of the Week for Oct. 21 after leading Chapman to a 3-0 mark over the weekend. Over the course of three games he had nine goals, seven assists and two steals for the Panthers who went 3-0 for the week with wins over No. 20 Pomona-Pitzer, Occidental and Caltech. Against Pomona, he scored four goals with three assists to knock of their first top-20 team of the season. He also had two goals against Caltech and three goals against Occidental.



WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Oct. 14

AUSTEN OLIVER

Occidental

Austen Oliver led Occidental in back-to-back wins last week with a combined total of 10 goals,  seven assists, and four steals to earn WWPA Men’s Player of the Week honors for Oct. 14. On the year the junior from Houston, TX leads the Tigers with 36 goals and 22 assists through 14 games played.  He’s also drawn a team high 29 exclusions. Oliver scored five times in Oxy’s 20-5 win over Santa Ana College on Oct 8th, and he added a team leading five goals and four assists in the teams 18-5 win over Connecticut College on Oct 10th.



WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Oct. 7

RYAN BALIKIAN

Pomona-Pitzer

Pomona-Pitzer junior Ryan Balikian led his team to a four game sweep at the Claremont Convergence this past weekend to earn WWPA Men’s Player of the Week honors for Oct. 7. He totaled 15 goals over four games, putting 4 goals on the board in the Sagehens’ impressive 10-9 upset over No. 11 Santa Clara. He also scored 4 goals against Harvard and Gannon, with a hat trick against Fordham. Balikian finished the weekend with 15 goals, 8 steals, and 5 field blocks to lead Pomona to its best record at the Convergence in program history.


WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Sept. 30

KEVIN PEAT

UC Davis

Sophomore Kevin Peat of UC Davis has been named the WWPA Men’s Player of the Week for Sept. 30 after leading the Aggies to a 4-0 weekend at the Bronco Invitational. He played in 13 of the 16 quarters, posting 30 saves while allowing just 18 goals in 104 minutes of play. He tallied eight stops (against just two goals) in one half of play vs. Cal Lutheran, then had save totals of nine and eight against Redlands and 10th-ranked Santa Clara, respectively. With the win, the Aggies jumped to No. 12 in the national rankings.


WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Sept. 23

ANDY STEVENS

LMU

Junior Andy Stevens has been named the WWPA Male Player of the Week for Sept. 23 after leading the Lions to a fifth place finish at the NorCal Invitational last weekend. The All-American goalie finished with 55 saves in four games, including a record 21 in the sudden-death overtime win over No. 8 UC Irvine. He added 12 saves in the win over No. 17 UC San Diego and 17 in the win over No. 6 UC Santa Barbara. On the weekend, he allowed just 5.75 goals per game.


WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Sept. 16

JACK WALL

Santa Clara

Senior Jack Wall has been named the Western Water Polo Association Men’s Player of the Week for Sept. 16 after leading the Broncos to a 5-0 mark at the Princeton Invitational last weekend. The perfect mark on the trip is first east coast sweep for the Broncos and included a 7-6 win over No. 11 Princeton. In the win Wall had his hand in all seven goals, scoring four times and dishing out three assists. For the weekend, he finished with 15 goals, 12 assists and four steals.


WWPA PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Sept. 9

EDGARAS ASAJAVICIUS

LMU

Sophomore Edgaras Asajavicius helped LMU to a 3-1 record at the UC San Diego Triton Invitational last week, earning wins over #19 Air Force, #5 Pepperdine and Pomona-Pitzer. With the wins, the Lions moved to No. 5 in the nation in the latest poll. Asajavicius exploded offensively, scoring 14 goals in the four games, earning six of the Lions’ nine goals in the 9-5 win over the fifth-ranked Waves. He also had seven goals in the 15-1 over Pomona-Pitzer. He finished the week with a shooting percentage of 53.8, added four steals, a field block and an assist on the week.
